Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda is set to convene a distinctive round table gathering during the United Nations Climate Conference (COP-28) in Dubai, UAE, inviting leaders from mountainous nations. This special assembly aims to foster solidarity and collective action in addressing the pressing crisis of climate change.
The conference will feature a keynote address by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. Attending this round table will be heads and representatives from partner mountain countries, Head and representatives from various international organizations focused on mountain-related issues.
Prime Minister Prachanda's climate adviser, Popular Gentle, shared that this 'side line' meeting during COP-28 has been organized to emphasize the challenges faced by mountainous nations due to climate change. The objective is to collectively discuss its impact and foster unity in addressing these critical concerns.
The round table titled 'The Call of the Mountains: Who Saves Us from the Climate Crisis?', is scheduled for Saturday at 9 am in conference room number 12.
Prime Minister Prachanda had previously expressed his commitment to raising awareness about the unique challenges faced by mountainous nations during COP-28. He highlighted the need to strategically address these issues and establish cooperative strategies among mountain countries.
