United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed deep concern about the terrible impact of the climate crisis in the Himalayas.
On the second day of his visit, Secretary-General Guterres, who arrived at Syangboche in Solukhumbu via a Nepalese Army helicopter on Monday, highlighted the severe consequences of the climate crisis on the Himalayas.
In a Twitter message, he conveyed, "Today from the base of Mt. Everest, I saw for myself the terrible impact of the climate crisis on the Himalayas."
He emphasized that the rising temperatures pose an increased risk to glacier melting. He further stated, "As temperatures rise, glacier melt increases - threatening the lives and livelihoods of entire communities."
